| Clare Actors has been one of Clare College's most active and important societies over the last few years, and is continuing to make its name known as one of the leading college drama societies. Over the past few years we have encouraged and supported productions at the ADC (including Tom Stoppard's 'Travesties'), funded pieces of original writing at the Corpus Playroom (Ian Burrows' 'Lost for Words' and Ollie Evans' 'Untimely Figs') and mounted an annual Shakespearean May Week Show in Clare Gardens (last year 'The Winter's Tale', this year 'The Taming of the Shrew'). This Lent term also saw the first Miscellaneous Theatre Festival, a 3 day event featuring new and original pieces in the English Faculty Drama Studio and Clare Cellars. The end of every Michaelmas term also sees the Clare College Panto performed to vocal and inebriated acclaim. Productions this Michaelmas include 'Othello' at the Corpus Playroom (week 6) and the panto in the Cellars (week 8). For more information about either or to get involved, email Ian (icc26) or Ollie (oe209). One of our strongest priorities is encouraging new writing in Cambridge drama. We are always happy to consider applications to direct new writing, or if you do not feel happy directing, we can find a production team to stage a piece of drama you have written.
