Costume Designers
Costume designers are responsible for deciding what kind of costumes are required, finding them and ensuring they fit and stay in good condition. For simpler shows, clothes from
charity shops often suffice although they may require some alteration. For more complex projects, costumes can be hired or made. On bigger shows there may be opportunities to act as an assistant, a good way to get involved if you don’t want lots of responsibility straight away. It is essential that someone on the team, although not necessarily the designer, can sew in order to alter and repair costumes before and during the run.
