Set builders
Typically the job of making the set gets split in two - building and painting. It often ends up being the
technical director's job to build the set and the
set designer's job to paint it. This doesn't have to be the case though - sometimes a
master carpenter would be recruited to build the set.
Unless the set is very small, it isn't practical to do these jobs without other help - people are very welcome to come and help build or paint. This normally happens in the week before the show - contact the
technical director or
set designer if you're interested.
