    Told in reverse-chronological order, Merrily follows the story of Franklin Shepard -- a now-famous film producer who started off as a musical theatre composer. It moves back through the years of his life tracking his loosening morals, his loss of passion for art, his failed relationships, and the journey he goes on with his two best friends Mary and Charley.

    Merrily We Roll Along is a musical about friendship, music, ambition and the loss of authenticity.
