The Scottish play is coming to Cambridge as you’ve never seen before. With an entirely BME cast, this production will transport you to an underground urban sprawl, illuminating the shaded power, deceit, and ambition in a city that never sleeps, for Macbeth looks on. All hell, Macbeth!

A man meets thrice-tongued Fate who tells him he shall be King. Goaded by his Queen, and both immediately drunk on their future, they are soon consumed by the duality of power: both wielding it and submitting to it. Treading blood, the Macbeths drive towards their Fate: guns ready, minds broken.

COGGLES presents...Macbeth: He Meant Well!

Was Macbeth really a murderer, or was he just misunderstood? Opinions differ. Banquo is fairly set on his, but there is another side to the story. Featuring three witches, one Scottish accent and an increasing number of sheets, "Macbeth: He Meant Well" explores the difficulties of trying not to murder people when your very name is cursed and there is a coven of witches following you around talking about the weather.


COGGLES (Cambridge Old Graduate and Graduand Light Entertainment Society) are a society that takes theatre to people who don't normally get a chance to see it. In particular, we are a part of CULES, who do the same thing, but we do it in the middle of exam term where there is nothing else going on! Previous venues have included a variety of old people's homes and Fulbourn Mental Health Hospital.

Rich, dark and brooding, 'Macbeth' follows the story of Macbeth and his ambitious wife as they become increasingly trapped by a supernatural prophecy that puts Macbeth on the throne of Scotland and destroys his sanity. Drawing on a loosely-mediaeval aesthetic that places the witches and their prophecy as the focus of an omnipotent “other”, acting over the characters and the audience, this year’s production draws audiences into a world they cannot fully comprehend or escape.

The European Theatre Group is a self-sufficient theatre tour, that has travelled by coach to schools, universities and professional venues across Europe each December for the last 57 years. Whilst Switzerland remains a central part of the itinerary, tours have also included dates in Belgium, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Luxembourg and Italy. In recent years the company have enjoyed performing for a London audience, before a home run in January at the ADC Theatre, Cambridge.

An integral part of the tour is the educational enrichment we provide. The play is designed to engage with modern audiences, from children to expatriates; alongside this we offer both artistic and technical workshops, and work with schools to support students studying the text in class.

Pembroke Players presents PEMBROKE PLAYERS JAPAN TOUR 2012

‘Now, the most important thing you should know about real witches is this. Real witches dress in ordinary clothes, and look very much like ordinary women. They live in ordinary houses, and they work in ordinary jobs.’ - This summer, the Pembroke Players will tour Japan with their production of Macbeth. Set in Edwardian Britain, in a country house haunted by the absence of a child, where rocking horses move unprovoked, the clocks forever tick and spirits are ever present, the Macbeths are left questioning who and what they can trust as they sacrifice everything for power.

The Pembroke Players Japan Tour is now moving into its sixth consecutive year. Every year the Tour takes a high-quality production of a Shakespeare play to universities, schools, and public theatres across Japan. The tour is based in Tokyo but also gives participants an opportunity to travel and perform in locations outside of the capital - previous destinations have included Yokohama, Kyoto, Nagoya and many others.

Babes in the Wood - An epic tale of beautiful maidens, dashing heroes, and drunken clergy. When the evil Sheriff of Nottingham decides to murder his young nephew and niece all that stands in his way is Robin Hood and his dashing band of lovable rogues. Will the children be saved? Will the Sheriff win the day? Will the cast actually learn their lines? Watch and find out!
