Easter Week 2
''Why then, friend, this is a deep downright tragedy'
Its the 1960s and Peachum and Lockit are leaders of the corporate art world: defined by sharp suits, a fondness for alcohol and an all consuming love of money: the pair blackmail artists into making them commercial art, in exchange for allowing the artists to continue their 'relaxed' lifestyle.
In this inventive re-imagining of of a satirical classic, the thieves and prostitutes of the original become artists in a capitalist world, run by corporate leaders, who run on whiskey, Andy Warhol profits and blackmail - all to an originally composed 60s-esque score.
'All this we must do to comply with the tastes of the town'
(And we think the town will like it)
