A story of false imprisonment, hasty marriage and unrequited love, all set in the Tower of London. Some beautiful songs including the much-loved "I have a song to sing-o". A cast of Tower warders (Yeomen of the Guard) and locals are briefly distracted from the grim business of the prison by the appearance of travelling minstrels. Comedy and tragedy are intertwined.
