    I, Kassandra is looking for a Director  to bring this play to life for the 2026 Cambridge Poetry Festival. Downing Dramatic Society presents a staged-reading, with music, of extracts from a new verse-drama based on the works of Homer and Aeschylus. If you are interested in working with a script by an acclaimed poet that has never been adapted before please do apply! This is a great opportunity for directors  to work on an exciting ‘first-look’ at a play by a professional writer . We are looking for someone with a strong creative vision to tell the story of the mythological Kassandra through her own eyes, navigating love, war, power and sacrifice.                                               The Harry Porter Prize is an annual new writing competition for a one-hour comic play, established in memory of the late Dr Harry Porter, the Footlights’ long-time Senior Archivist. Submissions are welcome from all current students of The University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University (this includes incoming freshers). We warmly encourage anyone excited by the prize to apply, regardless of any previous comedy or playwriting experience. The winning entry will be chosen by an external guest judge (past judges have included Emma Sidi, Phil Wang and Alex Horne) and staged in Easter Term with Footlights support and funding. Pretty exciting stuff if you ask me!
