BATSQueens' College Amateur Dramatics Society

BATS is the Amateur Dramatics Society of Queens' College, Cambridge that has been entertaining audiences for over 80 years. It offers a diverse range of productions, from classic plays to contemporary works, and is run entirely by students, creating a supportive and collaborative environment for everyone involved.

We are fortunate to have the use of one of the best performance spaces in Cambridge: the Fitzpatrick Hall. This is a modern, well-equipped venue with a capacity of 208, and options for smaller performances as well. Our renowned May Week Show takes place around Queens' College, ensconced between some of the oldest buildings on the Cam.

If you're interested in getting involved with BATS, there are regular auditions and workshops, providing opportunities for actors and those interested in behind-the-scenes roles.

Seeking ACTORS for A Cauldron of BATS!

Inside a circus tent made of memory, P.T. Barnum introduces a family once famous enough to rival his own name: Booth. In this extract of the full-length play, the Booth brothers are still young boys—until their childhood is ripped away from them when their famous tragedian father decides to take Edwin on tour and sends John Wilkes to a strict military boarding school. Years later, their story will collide with American history: the older brother becomes the most famous Shakespearean actor of his age, and the younger assassinates President Abraham Lincoln. As scripture meets Shakespeare, and love turns into rivalry through overlapping letters, the play asks: how a family myth begins—and how a future tragedy is rehearsed long before it happens. We can’t wait to meet you and see your auditions!! 💛🎪
