Robinson college boasts two wonderful venues, the well equipped 230-seater Robinson Auditorium and the beautiful outside amphitheatre, the Maria Björnson Theatre. We aim to do at least two shows per term. Recent shows have included titles such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Cymbeline, Jesus Christ Superstar, Barber's Vanessa and CUG&S's The Gondoliers, as well as new writing.

Applications to direct in the theatre and amphitheatre are welcome. We are also keen to here from people interested in getting involved in all aspects of the theatre, from light and sound to set design to front of house management. While we will advertise for specific projects, please feel free to apply speculatively!

Brickhouse remains very open to members of other colleges and responds positively to all interest expressed. Feel free to get in contact at any time, whatever your interest or experience!

Brickhouse Theatre Company posted: Brickhouse Theatre Company are looking for a talented and enthusiastic cast to join our production of Back to the 80s, which will be performed at the Robinson Auditorium from the 2nd-4th March 2017. Back to the 80s, written by Neil Gooding, is set in 80s America. Join the graduating class of William Ocean High School as they live through their final senior year - as they experience the fun, the heartbreak, the loves and the loneliness of growing up… all set to the biggest hits of the 80’s! We are looking for a strong, diverse cast of all genders, races, ages, shapes and sizes, and dancing abilities to bring our 18 principal roles to life. Auditions will be held on Monday 16th (10-4) and Tuesday 17th January (9-1), and will consist of a song and an extract from the show being performed (american accent preferred). There will also be a dance workshop on Wednesday 18th, but don’t let this put you off - not all characters are meant to have a conventional sense of rhythm! Brickhouse Theatre Company posted: Applications are now open to get involved in the production teams of Brickhouse's two big musicals next term: Songs for a New World and Back to the 80s. We look forward to hearing from you! - - - - - - - - - - SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD Thursday 9th - Saturday 11th February 2017, 7:45pm Brickhouse Theatre Company's week 3 musical is looking for a production team to help bring this amazing contemporary song cycle to life. - Musical Director - Producer - Lighting Designer - Set Designer - Costume Designer - Stage Manager - Publicity Designer 'Songs For A New World' is, according to composer Jason Robert Brown, “about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.” With a rousing score that blends elements of pop, gospel and jazz, featuring tight harmonies and darling vocals, Songs for a New World transports its audience from the deck of a spanish sailing ship bound for a new land, to the ledge of a New York penthouse. Characters range from a young man in the Bronx who dreams of becoming a famous basketball player, to a forlorn and neglected Mrs. Claus lamenting as Christmas approaches. A small but powerful diverse cast and a supercharged, well crafted score appeal to old and new generations alike as each character- in their own way- takes hold of that one moment and enters a new world. Applications should be sent to ar797@cam.ac.uk by midday on Saturday 7th January, and should include why you would like the role as well as any relevant experience you may have. - - - - - - - - - - BACK TO THE 80s Thursday 2nd - Saturday 4th March 2017, 7:45pm and 2:30pm Do you like cheesy 80’s music? American high school drama? Grease without the cliché? If so then getting involved in the production team of Back to the 80s may be for you! - Producer/Co-Producers/Assistant Producer - Assistant Musical Director - Assistant Choreographer - Stage Managers - Publicity Designer - Costume Designer - Assistant Set Designer - Technical Director Join the graduating class of William Ocean High School as they live through their final senior year - as they experience the fun, the heartbreak, the loves and the loneliness of growing up… all set to the biggest hits of the 80’s! Set in the USA, Back To The 80’s tells the story of 17-year-old Corey, who is madly in love with Tiffany Houston, one of the coolest girls in the school. However, she is too busy mooning over Michael Feldman, the hottest guy around. Michael and his friends are athletic and good-looking - the kind of guys that Corey and his two best friends dream of being. However, while they may not be the coolest guys in school, they are still one up on Feargal McFerrin, who believes the crazy notion that one day CD’s will replace cassette tapes! The plot follows Class President Elections, the arrival of several new students, and the teachers’ own problematic relationship. Throw in a Star Wars dream sequence, high-energy dance routines, the obligatory 80’s party scene, as well as some of the most popular songs ever written, and the result is a musical that will delights and amuses! Your application should include: - the role you want to apply for - any previous relevant experience - why you are interested in this role - any ideas you may have - your favourite 80s song Please send your applications to Phoebe (pjp49) and Alice (actb2) (or Lucy Morrell (lm683) if applying for assistant musical director) before midday on the 27th of December. Brickhouse Theatre Company posted: Joseph is an insecure and bitter man living through the rise of social media. He is a conformist in every sense, but his friend Clarissa elevates his life from the mundane. As The Connection begins to monopolise all aspects of life, a tragic spiral of events leads Joseph to re-examine his relationship with himself and those around him as he is forced to confront The Connection and the way it has indelibly changed the way we all experience the world. This dystopic production seeks to explore the use of technology in theatre, and how we present its growing influence in our lives on the stage.
