Cambridge Arts Initiative and CollectiveCAIAC

CAIAC - the Cambridge Arts Initiative and Collective - was formed in 2024 with the aim of supporting, facilitating and producing art which not only had a consistent interdisciplinary spirit, but championed mediums which traditionally have been underrepresented in the Cambridge arts scene. In particular, CAIAC strives for contemporary dance, original live music and fine art to be supported, created and experienced on the same level as the already flourishing scenes surrounding theatre and poetry.

Practically, CAIAC undertakes a variety of roles. When it comes to facilitating, CAIAC runs a bevy of workshops each term around the city; these are open to all, regardless of experience, and typically involve an interdisciplinary edge. For example, lyric-writing workshops allow for a coming-together of poetry and original music, whilst kinetic drawing workshops see a collaboration between fine art and contemporary dance. CAIAC also believes in leading from the front and will hold its own exhibitions, talks and showcases around the city as a means of highlighting the potential and importance of interdisciplinary art at the university.

CAIAC is always open to newcomers, always open to new ideas and always open to collaboration!
