The Shirley PlayersShirley Players

The Shirley Players are St Catharine’s College dramatic society. We are always looking to fund alternative theatre and new student comedy, promoting fresh and experimental projects in the heart of Cambridge theatre.

We are particularly interested in new writing. Putting on your own shows can be difficult; often new plays, comedies and sketch shows can be overlooked and left to do everything for themselves. But the Shirley Players are dedicated to supporting such new and interesting projects. The sort of shows that start conversations.

What makes the Shirley Players unique in Cambridge is that we actively aim to publicise as well as fund the shows we support. Many great shows have passed by unnoticed because people simply didn’t know they were on. The Shirley Players will work with you and your producers on a publicity campaign across posters, flyers, social media and the student papers to make sure this does not happen. Your job is to make something you are proud of, our job is to get people to come see it.
