The Cambridge Opera Group is looking for enthusiastic people to stage direct our performance of socially distanced Opera Scenes from the Verismo Era on November 21st 2020.
The three operas from which the scenes will be taken are Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, Suor Angelica and Tosca. Outlined below you will find which scenes from each opera we are planning to stage:
Flower Duet (Act 2, part 1)
Kate and Butterfly’s duet (Act 2, part 2)
The opening chorus scene
Act 2 finale (Scarpia’s death)
If you’re interested in directing one or more of the three operas proposed please email Vivek (email@example.com) or Sarah (firstname.lastname@example.org) a short paragraph outlining your intended direction for the scene (max. 100 words). Feel free to include any relevant experience you have with direction opera, although it’s more interesting for us to read about your interpretation of the scenes and your artistic vision!
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our producer Sarah (email@example.com) for any questions about the logistics of what we can and can’t do under the current COVID guidelines or for any general queries about the venue, space etc.
The deadline is 00:00 Wednesday the 21st of October
