Lent Week 2

What are you waiting for? Bring your Frankesteinian creation to life! A Cauldron of BATS is looking for short pieces of new student writing to stage at the beginning of Lent.

At the start of Michaelmas, A Cauldron of BATS staged seven wonderful pieces of writing in front of a sold out crowd. After a great deal of positive feedback, we would like next Lent's Cauldron to be the biggest and boldest one yet.

We would, therefore, like to see as many writing applications as possible. A Cauldron of BATS is all about range and experimentation - the only restriction we ask writer's to consider is a ten minute length limit so we can facilitate as many different pieces as possible. We want to see scenes from full plays as well as short standalone scenes; group scenes as well as monologues. A Cauldron of BATS is a brilliant opportunity for writers to test their style as it is developing, and there will be an even greater emphasis on feedback for writers than ever before.

Please send your scripts, alongside a short synopsis, to Aidan (ac2497@cam.ac.uk) for a chance to be considered. Applications close on the 4th of January, 2026.

We are looking forward to reading your work!

NB: Writers are expected to find their own directors/cast, but BATS can help with finding people should that prove an issue. Writers should also expect minimal set and tech capacity.

Contact ac2497@cam.ac.uk before 4th Jan 2026 00:00 for more details.
