Have you always wanted to know the difference between an IEC and an XLR cable but been too afraid to ask? Do you want to learn how to fly a counterweight bar without the stress of a busy get-in or the time pressure of a real performance? Would you like to go and explore the parts of the roof where the followspots live and have a go controlling one?

On Friday 16th at 7pm, CUADC are running an Introduction to Tech at the ADC Workshop on the ADC Stage where we hope to explore the basic building blocks of technical theatre. Covering elements of sound, set, lights and stage management, this workshop is aimed at people who have never done tech at the ADC before or those who are looking to try out a new technical department. Absolutely no experience is necessary and we especially encourage people who have never been involved in a show at the ADC before to come along!

The format will be very informal with a safety talk onstage at 7pm, then we will split into small groups to look at different things throughout the evening (which may or may not include a chance to go through the trapdoor currently installed to allow access between centre stage and the workshop!) Finally we will all come together to look at where you can find more resources to help you on your technical theatre journey! We are hoping to tailor the workshop to what people want to know so if you are thinking about coming along please fill out the form below so we can plan (and risk assess!) suitable activities, and take your snack requests!
