'An Evening of Chekhov' is looking for ACTORS!!!

DDS are running auditions from Saturday 1st November to Monday 3rd November for 'An Evening of Chekhov'.

In Week 5 Michaelmas Term, from 13th-15th November 2025, join DDS at the Howard Theatre for An Evening of Chekhov, a showcase of six of Chekhov's short comedy plays, Drama, The Sneeze, The Bear, On The Evils of Tobacco, The Inspector General and Swansong. Each comedy play will be brought to stage by talented directors and actors across Cambridge Theatre and will even feature a touch of live music to smoothly transition between pieces. The evening promises Chekhov's trademark style of humour blended with a sharp insight into human behaviour.

The directors will be running auditions at the following times/locations:

Saturday 1st November - 10am-1pm in the Downing College JCR
Sunday 2nd November - 10am-1pm in the Downing College JCR
Monday 3rd November - 10am-1pm in the Boys Smith Room at St John's College

Present at the audition will be two of the directors of 'An Evening of Chekhov' and potentially a DDS Committee member. For your audition, we ask you to prepare a monologue of your choice no more than 3 minutes in length. You may be redirected in your audition and asked to perform your monologue again to see how you respond to redirection.
