Lent Week 3 to Week 6

Rebekah is stood in lapping water, bursting with moonlight; the quiet
glint of silver scissors, gold hair falling around her shoulders; the
soft burn of stage-lights as she plays Romeo and I sit in the front row.
These mythic images are deliberately overdetermined, simultaneously too
bright and too crystalline, and I buckle under the weight of
performance. I halt time to dramaturgically hold Rebekah still, trying
and failing to recreate a memory that is essentially impossible.

A delicate memory play, the protagonist remembers the agony of growing
pains, not saying the right thing at the right time, and some improvised
lines for Romeo and Juliet.
