What happens after a revolution fails?

Kolony is a bold, darkly funny new play set in a mining settlement on Mars, ruled by a man who insists he’s the only thing keeping everyone alive. As the colony struggles to survive, the story unfolds across three very different acts — a tense political thriller, an unexpected love story, and a final reckoning about power, responsibility, and what comes next.

Blending sci-fi, satire, and sharp ensemble storytelling, Kolony asks uncomfortable questions about leadership, love, and whether freedom actually feels the way we expect it to. This rehearsed reading offers a first look at an ambitious new work — come hear it, debate it, and help shape what it becomes.

We’re casting a small ensemble for a rehearsed reading of Kolony, a new political sci-fi play. We’re looking for actors to play: The Master – the authoritarian leader of the Kolony; charismatic, intelligent, and dangerous Bloke (BAME role) – a former miner turned revolutionary figure; articulate, volatile, and idealistic Dean Bertrand Scholz – a gentle, principled Kolonist whose belief in love challenges the system Lecta – a junior Kolonist whose quiet competence places her at the centre of change The Kolony – an ensemble of Kolonists who function collectively as a chorus, shifting between individual voices and group presence All roles are open-casting unless otherwise specified. We’re especially interested in actors excited by ensemble work and new writing.
