HMS Pinafore Casting for February

We are looking for performers from all backgrounds for principal and chorus roles, so whether you have experience in Musical Theatre, Opera, Choral singing or straight acting you are warmly welcomed! For your audition, you will need to record yourself singing a song of your choice (classical Musical Theatre/G&S/Opera styles are all encouraged).

We are looking for performers from all backgrounds, so whether you have experience in Musical Theatre, Opera, Choral singing or straight acting you are warmly welcomed! We are also keen to explore movement and dance through the rehearsal process so while there’s no expectation that you’re a dancer (though it’s also great if you are!), please be prepared to keep an open mind towards developing physicality.

For your audition, you will need to record yourself singing a song of your choice (classical Musical Theatre/G&S/Opera styles are all encouraged). If you are auditioning for one of the lead parts you may like to prepare one of the suggested songs - see below. We would also like you to demonstrate your range, for example by singing a scale across your full comfortable range or through your song choice.

Please also prepare one of the spoken extracts below for principal roles if possible. There’s absolutely no expectation at all that you’ll be off copy. You are welcome to get someone to read in other parts, or leave appropriate gaps for us to fill in the blanks! Even if you’d like to only be considered for the chorus please still prepare a dialogue extract of your choice.

We will be accepting self tapes submitted to the form here: https://forms.gle/3HjnfJZfh6ZVtc2c7 until 7th January. Do get in contact as soon as possible if you are interested. If you are having difficulties with the form, please email pinafore@gands.org.uk with a clip of your song, and your spoken extract. Please include in your email your name, pronouns if you’re happy to share, what role(s) you’re interested in and your vocal range. If you are struggling to find suitable accompaniment, please let us know and we can record something for you to sing along to. Some suggestions are already included in a folder linked from the full pack.
