THE CAMBRIDGE PLOUGH JAG is looking for a DIRECTOR!

Festival of New WritingDDS
19:30, Thu 12th – Sat 14th March 2026 at Howard Theatre, Downing College
Lent Week 7

I am Sapphy, (a finalist in English and lover of rhymes and tall-tales) and I am super excited that my silly satire folk-play is coming to the Downing Festival of New Writing.

A modern-day take on a traditional folk play; full of satire and silliness, jigs and jeers, sexual frustration and sexual innuendo ;)
An ode to Cambridge where no one comes out unscathed.

Champagne-socialist-King’s-College-sleaze Boretholomew is down on his luck… He can’t get the attention of the one girl he really hankers for: the dozy English student Paige Turner (who never does her reading).

She has her eyes set on another man, and I am sure they would have the perfect romance too…. if he wasn’t DEAD!

Follow this rabble of quintessential Cambridge characters on a journey of booze, romance, violence, death and resurrection.

Things take a turn for the worse
when they mess up their verse!
