AUDITION for AS YOU LIKE IT (Clare May Week Play 2026)

AS YOU LIKE IT, a meta-theatrical spin on Shakespeare's classic rom-com play and the Clare May Week Play 2026, seeks a CAST. We are looking for Rosalind/Ganymede, Orlando, Celia/Aliena, Touchstone, Jacques, Oliver, Duke Senior, Duke Ferdinand, Silvius, Phoebe, Various Ensemble Characters.

• Fri 1st May, 15:00–18:00, Blythe Room, Clare College

Synopsis:
'As You Like It' follows Rosalind - a genderqueer/female theatrical director and writer - after her Uncle Ferdinand usurps her father's Artistic Director position in their theatre. What follows is an escape to Arden, the forest of arts, a non-conforming theatrical space where Rosalind (now the handsome Ganymede) is able to claim her place as a theatremaker and centre her own experiences as director and manipulator, deconstructing the gendered and artistic experience native to her until now. Among the backdrop of love stories she directs, her artistic practice comes into direct collision with her own love story with wannabe actor Orlando.

We highly encourage individuals who identify as women, genderqueer, non-binary and/or BME to audition. Auditions on the 1st May are reserved for BME and theatre newcomers to audition, and will be ledy by a BME director (Fariha).
