Harry Porter Prize 2026: NOW WELCOMING SUBMISSIONS!

The Harry Porter Prize is an annual new writing competition for a one-hour comic play, established in memory of the late Dr Harry Porter, the Footlights’ long-time Senior Archivist. Submissions are welcome from all current students of The University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University (this includes incoming freshers). We warmly encourage anyone excited by the prize to apply, regardless of any previous comedy or playwriting experience. The winning entry will be chosen by an external guest judge (past judges have included Emma Sidi, Phil Wang and Alex Horne) and staged in Easter Term with Footlights support and funding. Pretty exciting stuff if you ask me!

It’s that time again! Following the success of last year’s winning play Prints Charming by Tru Holland (selected by Stephen Fry), the Footlights Committee are delighted to now be accepting submissions for the Harry Porter Prize 2026.

DEADLINE: Saturday 10th October 2026 at 23:59 PM
Please remember to send in your script in a pdf format to president@cambridgefootlights.org with no evidence of authorship :)
