America, 1969. Nuclear warning sirens go off, and teenage girls Judy and Carla hide in a bunker underground, waiting to receive radio communication informing them of a false alarm. Instead, they become cut off from the outside world, and are left with the unnerving unknown. Visions of destruction dance before their eyes, and their safe haven becomes suffocating as their fears and anxieties swell to a breaking point.

“To step out of the darkness, you must be able to bear the all-consuming light.”

Fallout is a story about two girls coming of age in an uncertain world teetering on the brink of destruction. Interspersed with dizzying and surreal dream sequences, the play asks us how we can come to terms with a future that always feels out of our hands.
