Downing Dramatic Society presents a staged reading, with music, of extracts from a new verse-drama, set in the immediate wake of the Trojan War. To be followed by a short Q&A with the author, as part of the 2026 Cambridge Poetry Festival.

Witness an intimate retelling of the brilliant Kassandra, Trojan priestess blessed and cursed with the gift of prophecy. After surviving the fall of Troy, she finds herself captive on the Greek island of Paros with the victorious King Agamemnon. As the secrets of his past begin to surface, she is forced to confront the truth behind his haunted mind and the terrible sacrifice that has made his journey to Troy and subsequent victory possible.

Richard Berengarten is a Cambridge poet who has lived and worked in Greece. He lists among his influences, Homer's Iliad, Aeschylus, Brecht, and Netflix.
