Quickening is the narrative of three abortions - Lina and Josey find themselves in the same ward in 1972, a few years after the legalisation of abortion in the UK. In 2011, Lina’s daughter Darla faces a similar situation to her mother, putting a strain on their relationship and causing Lina to recall the emotional and social consequences of the abortion she had years before, as she struggles to adapt to Darla’s contemporary politics.

An incendiary piece of new theatre that interrogates one of society's most emotional and contemporary debates, Quickening spanning decades to show the generational effects of social and individual change.
