We're looking for remaining creative roles (costume design, set design, publicist and photographer ) to deliver our Summer Show at Binham Priory this September. Join CUGSS for an exciting in-situ performance in a unique venue. The show will take the very best of what Cambridge Theatre has to offer to Norfolk for a two/three week residential production period working in and with the local community. **On a rolling basis June 1st 23:59**
For full application pack, please see: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zjswJ_C4ZQNX9YltEgvR1ksWTHUdTKgMlgXQ7YNObc0/edit?usp=drivesdk
Set Designer
The Set Designer is a very special role and one that will work very closely with the team communicating plans to English Heritage. There is a need to minimise the amount of set as the venue is a heritage site so this should not be an onerous role, but one that needs some care and discussions with the directors etc. You will work closely with the Technical Director over the Summer as your design comes to life, and will then help the build. During show week you will have lots of free time to enjoy your surroundings, as well as have the opportunity to help on run crew for shows.
Availability:
Planning: Easter Term/July/August around other commitments
In Residence: Tech Period and Show Week
Costume Designer
The Costumer Designer gets to play with our quite extensive costume store and whatever other resources you want to find in order to dress our ensemble of ~20 people. You would most likely stay with members of the cast and get to be a lot more involved in the process than most Costume Designers in Cambridge. It’s a challenging but exciting role for anyone interested in costumes. This role will also involve working closely with the Director to develop the designs, plan, and source the costumes (don’t let transporting them worry you). In Norfolk, you will bring the costumes together and do fittings with the cast, whilst also having the opportunity to make anything specific that is needed. The Costume Designer will then be in charge of the costumes and dressing of the cast on show nights. We are open to applications from individuals or pairs for this role. There is the option to stay for the 2 weeks in Norfolk, or do this more remotely (/from Cambridge) upon discussion.

Publicist
As we are bringing a show to a new-to-Cambridge-Theatre audience, we will need to have a much more marketing focused publicity programme than some shows. If you are looking to get involved in publicity and marketing in the Real World, this is for you! Think coordinating with local arts venues, schools, newspapers, radio stations, as well as the usual social media, posters and flyers.
Our publicist role is intended to essentially oversee the logistics of the publicity campaign. If you were to join us in Norfolk residentially, there is a lot of scope to structure your own time so maybe this is the perfect 2 week by-the-sea project for the summer…
Availability: very flexible
Photographer
The Photographer records the Production as it takes place, creating material for the Publicity Team and documenting the production process. You will take headshots, rehearsal and production photographs as well as opportunities to take behind the scenes photos of this unique production process. The show promises to be visually interesting and your images will tell the story of how we got there.
Availability:
Very flexible, but able to visit Norfolk even on day trips required
Contact Ruddigore@gands.org.uk before 1st Jun 2025 23:59 for more details.
