Seeking Lighting and Soundboard operators for Week 8 Corpus Mainshow!

Craic'ed Mirror – Impronauts
19:00, Wed 3rd – Sat 6th December 2025 at Corpus Playroom
Michaelmas Week 8

The Week 8 Corpus Mainshow, Craic'ed Mirror, is looking to fill two tech roles: lighting operator and soundboard operator. The show runs from 7pm in week 8 (3rd-6th December) in the Corpus Playroom and is run by the Cambridge Impronauts. Lighting operator will provide dynamic lighting for the show, cutting the lights to end scenes and altering colour to fit the mood. Soundboard operator will provide sound effects from a laptop/tablet throughout the show. Minimal tech experience is required for either role!

Craic'ed Mirror is an improvised, narrative-driven show focussing on how a bold, new innovation (informed by audience suggestions) transforms the lives of its target demographic. A parody of Black Mirror and Love, Death And Robots, Craic'ed Mirror will make use of classic improv techniques and the tropes of various TV shows to construct a hilarious and totally improvised 3-act narrative exploring a slice-of-life dystopia.

We are looking for two people to fill the roles of soundboard operator and lighting operator. Minimal tech experience is required!

Lighting operator: You will use the standard Corpus Playroom lighting rig to light scenes, and cut the lights when the scene is ready to end. You can also use coloured LEDs to change a scene's lighting to reflect its mood or events. This will require some experience in improv and/or comedy, so we ask that successful applicants attend some of our rehearsals to practise editing improv scenes.

Soundboard operator: You will use a laptop- or tablet-based soundboard app to provide sound effects for scenes throughout each show. These will typically be technology-based sounds e.g. computer error noises, ring tones etc. This will require some experience in improv and/or comedy, so we ask that successful applicants attend some of our rehearsals to practise using improv support moves. The laptop or tablet used can either be your own or that of the director.

Time commitment: You will need to be free from 6pm on every night of the show (3rd-6th December), as well as attending the minimum of both tech rehearsals before the show (30th November, 1st December). We would prefer for successful applicants to attend a few rehearsals in the weeks approaching the show, to practise improv skills (editing and other support moves), particularly for those who are less experienced.
