MAGIC BUTTONS is looking for a DIRECTOR!

Hi, I’m Sarah, and I am seeking a director  for my short play “Magic Buttons” which will have its premier at The Festival of New Writing at the Howard Theatre on the evening of March 12th.

I am a film director  and screenwriter living in Brooklyn, NY and am pursuing an MSt in Creative Writing here at Cambridge. This is my first foray into theatre and I'm very much looking forward to the collaboration!

My play is set in contemporary times and follows the opening exchange between Theo (26) and Kate (37) on their very first date. The scene is grounded in modern anxieties about May-December romance and begins to examine one iteration of this nuanced dynamic. The scene rides or dies on the inherent chemistry and palpable tension between our Kate and our Theo, as much of the play incorporates held beats and extended silence. There is much to toy around with and explore between these two! A reference for the tone would be Closer by Patrick Marber and John by Annie Baker.
