BME Marlowe Show Producer / Director

The Marlowe Society's annual BME production is looking for a producer  or director  to pitch to the ADC!

The Marlowe BME Show is a society-funded show in Lent Term 2026 with a BME-exclusive (Black and Minority Ethnic) cast and crew. This is a unique show in Cambridge Theatre for often being the first time ethnic minority students get to collaborate together on interpretating and performing a classic text!

We are looking for either a director  or producer  to pitch their choice of classic text (in the public domain) to the ADC Theatre on 8 or 9 November 2025, and then lead the show's production through the rest of Michaelmas and into the performance in Lent, with a full cast and crew of BME students.

This could be anything from Renaissance to 19C drama - we are open to all plays, following the success of Oscar Wilde's 'Lady Windermere's Fan' last year!

If you have a particular creative vision in mind for your production, or any students who you would like to work on this project with, please include this in your application. No prior experience is required - new faces to theatre are encouraged! - and you will be supported wholeheartedly by both the Marlowe Society and the ADC Theatre, if the application is successful!

The Marlowe Society are very keen for the show to go ahead, and in our committee process, we were unable to find someone to fill these roles sooner. We understand that this is short notice to decide to pitch a show, but we will make every effort to support and assist you. The ADC are fully aware these are exceptional circumstances to begin producing a show with, and will take that into account throughout the process.

Please send in your application by email by 23:59 on 6 November. If you have any questions, please get in touch as well!

Contact themarlowesociety@gmail.com before 6th Nov 2025 23:59 for more details.
