    The Cambridge Greek Play 2026

    19:30, Wed 14th – Sat 17th October 2026 at Cambridge Arts Theatre
    Michaelmas Week 1

Every three years a production of ancient Greek drama is staged in Cambridge, in the original language with English subtitles. The show has professional direction and design, and student actors and crew. No prior knowledge of ancient Greek is expected or required. This is a tradition that goes back to 1882. Over the decades it has attracted some of the best actors, musicians and composers of their generation, including Tom Hiddleston in recent years.

The R&D and rehearsal period takes about a year in total with casting at the end of Michaelmas term, some language work over the next few months and an intense rehearsal period for the month of September prior to the show in October.

The Cambridge Greek Play committee is pleased to announce that the 2026 production will be Euripides Ion.
